ABOUT US
ABOUT RESTORATION CONTRACTING
Here is a little bit about the journey and how we got here. The restoration industry has undergone significant changes in the past five years. As a restoration company, we attempted to adapt to these shifts but found our existing model unsustainable. This challenge led us to develop
Restoration Contracting. Below is an overview of our journey to this new approach.
THE CHALLENGE
The landscape of insurance claims has shifted dramatically, particularly after COVID. What used to be a smooth, 5-day approval process has now stretched to 30-90 days, leaving homeowners and contractors frustrated. Insurance companies facing skyrocketing home values with insurance rates not keeping up have had to tighten their belts, often replacing seasoned adjusters with new hires focused on minimizing claim payouts. This has made it increasingly difficult for restoration companies to get fair approvals and has often led to homeowners settling for less, making it challenging to restore their homes to pre-loss condition. The process of insurance claims has undergone a significant transformation.
Most restoration companies deduct 20% for overhead and profit, then an additional 20-30% from line items, leaving subcontractors to complete jobs with only 50-60% of the initial estimate. While it may seem excessive, once you factor in the costs of project managers, estimators, insurance negotiators, material procurement, various insurance coverages (general liability, pollution, "bailey's"), fuel, office staff, and building expenses, their profit margins become low or non-existent.
OUR SOLUTION
We have revolutionized the process to benefit everyone involved. Here is how we do it:
- Project Scope: A dedicated project manager assesses the damage.
- Estimating: The project details are sent to a cloud-based estimator for precise cost assessment.
- Insurance Liaison: Our cloud-based insurance liaison works tirelessly to secure approval.
- Certified General Contractors: Once approved, we connect you with one of our certified general contractors who operate within current insurance pricing.
This simple yet effective process works. Restoration Contracting charges 20% overhead and profit portion of the claim. This means our General Contractors receive 100% of the line item amount, effectively 80% of the total claim. This innovative approach ensures homeowners receive more money for their claim while still benefiting from a high level of project management and quality craftsmanship along with a 2 year workmanship warranty.
